ART@Noon Salon ART WALK

Puccini’s operas bring with them a level of difficulty, perhaps none is more complex or challenging than the central role in his “Madama Butterfly.”
The role of Madame Butterfly calls for an interpreter to sing virtually non-stop from the moment she arrives on stage, to interpret a character that transforms from a child into a woman and to sing one of opera’s most renowned duets and arias, followed by some truly complex musical passages that test not only her technique, but interpretative and musical insight.
It’s, as some people would call it, a big sing.
Join ART@Noon Thursday, January 19 at 12:00 PM for a Zoom discussion of Puccini’s opera, Madama Butterfly. Pain, suffering, a timeless love story and well-known arias are a part of this dramatic opera. Members will review the story line, listen to parts of the opera and discuss the opera’s musical format. This discussion will prepare participants to enjoy the live production of the opera at the Moran Theater, February 1, at 7:30.
ART@Noon is sponsoring an Art Walk for Madama Butterfly. We have purchased group seating for the opera. Tickets are limited. The price for an individual ticket is $58.00 and may be purchased at the Bookstore. Reservations for a pre-opera dinner at an Italian restaurant can be made if desired at the time tickets are purchased.
